 Prompt Response: I found metaphors a little more challenging than similes, but found it beneficial for understanding language. Summary: Metaphors were a little hard for me than similes because they require stronger connections between ideas. Reflection: Helped me understand how figurative language works. Metaphors helped me improve my creativity and think more about word choices.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

 Prompt Response: There are many different ways to present the same idea. Their design showed how important color and all of that is.  Summary: I learned that design plays a big role in how people understand and connect with a poster. Feedback helped recognize where I need to grown. Reflection: I understand that creativity is not just about ideas but about presentation. I will focus on more visual impact in the future.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

 Prompt Response: Writing similes and metaphors about my life had me thinking more deep about my growth. I compared myself to a flower who is still blooming on earth but on concrete when things get hard but I still push forward. Using these have made me realize that my challenges shape me into a stronger person. Summary: Creating similes and metaphors help me understand my challenges that I faced more. Reflection: I learned that I am more resilient than I thought. I realized that when things feel hard, I continue to grow and move forward.

 Prompt Response: I spent my time going to work and moving furniture into my new house. I also went to look for a prom dress with my mother and found one that I like and bought it. The break didn't really help me reset it was just a regular Sunday but instead of sleeping in I had to get up the next morning for school. Summary: During my break I spent most of my time working and moving furniture into my new house. I also went prom dress shopping with my mom and found one that I really liked. Even though it was a break. Reflection: My break was pretty productive. moving into a house was exciting but also tiring. shopping with my mom for my prom dress was a special moment considering this is my last year. Hopefully next time I can balance getting more rest while also being productive.

Consider your experience reading The Color Purple (a fictional novel), Fences (a play/drama), and Wild (a nonfiction memoir). Which type of longer text did you enjoy the most, the novel, the play, or the memoir, and which did you find the most challenging? Explain your preference, describe what made that type of text more engaging or accessible for you, and reflect on how understanding your preference might influence how you approach future readings.

 Prompt Response: I enjoyed the book the color purple even when the book was very long because it connect deeply with the characters and their emotions. The letter format made it more personal. Fences was challenging because it was written as a play, which made it harder to picture what was happening. Wild was interesting since it was real story. Summary: I like the novel because it was more emotional and detailed. Reflection: I prefer novels helps me understand that I connect best with detailed storytelling. 

If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

 Prompt Response: If i had to describe how i show love using only three objects, I would choose a long text message, a hoodie, and a late night snack. A long message represents how i communicate my feelings. A hoodies represents comfort. A late night snack represents effort. Summary: Represents communication, comfort, and effort. Together they show that i express love through words and actions. Reflection: These connect to my personality because i am caring. I like making sure the people around me feel supported. 

Even if you have not presented yet, how did participating as a listener, note-taker, or responder during the Interactive Oral help you prepare for your own discussion?

 Prompt Response: By listening I was able to see different ways people explained their questions and the audience answering. Being a responder also helped me practice thinking critically and and forming comments that make you answer their questions. Summary: Participating in the interactive oral allowed me to learn from others by listening and responding. helped me understand expectations and improve my ability to communicate ideas throughly. Reflection: Helped my build confidence for my own discussion when I present. Observing my classmates showed me that there is more than one way to express ideas and it encouraged me to be more prepared and engaged.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day week, describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about (a friend, family member, or significant person in your life).

 Prompt Response: In the spirit of v-day week, my ideas of a perfect day spent with someone I care about would be my closest friend. We would  start the day by sleeping in and then meeting up on some weekends to get some food and hangout. Later in the day we would go to the park and walk or watch a movie and just chill and then I would get dropped off back home at the end of it. Summary: Relaxed day filled with good food, conversations, and activities we both enjoy. The focus would not be expensive but just enjoying each other times and strengthening our friendship. Reflection: Made me realize how important friendships are and how v-day does not have to be romantic even though it is between me and my friend.

What is the best piece of advice of that your parent or guardian has given you? Tell what the advice was and what prompted you to ask the question.

 Prompt Response: The best piece of advice my parents has given me is to always stay true to myself even when it's hard. They told me this when I was having a hard time trying to fit into my new school in 5th grade. Summary: My parents advised me to stay true to myself during a time when I was trying to fit into my new school 8 years ago. Reflection: This advice help me stay grounded in who I am even in hard situations.

What is the most challenging part of working in a group? Discuss a time when a group assignment did not go as well as you planned and how you learned from that experience.

  Prompt Response:  The most challenging part is communication and making sure that everyone does their part of the assignment. I was in a group project where this one person did their work last minute and the final result was not the best like we wanted to. I learned how important it is to set very clear expectations and communication early on. Summary: A group project didn't go as planned because some one didn't do their work on time leading to an okay have assed project. Reflection:  This taught me to learn communication and checking with my group to make sure everyone is on track.

What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

  Prompt Response:  Organizing my ideas what the challenging part. I have thoughts but it can be difficult to put them in order that makes sense. I know what I want to say but I don't know how to start if off or what to explain first. To overcome this I plan to create an outline before writing to help me. Summary: Organizing ideas is the hard part of an essay for me but sometimes outlining can help. Reflection:  My writing will become stronger and focused, this will help me feel less stressed out when starting my essays.

Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story. Tell what happened, and why it felt like a turning point in your life?

 Prompt Response: One moment in my life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story was when i had to step out of my comfort zone and take responsiblitiy for something important. I felt nervous because i wasn't sure if i was ready but i knew avoiding it would hold me back. Summary: This marked the start of personal growth by forcing me to face resonsibility. Reflection: This experience taught me that growth often starts with discomfort. it helped build my confidence and showed me that taking risks can lead to good change.
